Minutes of the seventh meeting of ACAT: Acton Climate Action Team
News & Notes:
- Steve got neat package about "throw as you go". Steve will bring something to
the next meeting.

Meeting with Selectmen
- Our contact will be selectmen Bob Johnson. (978) 263-6984. bob@damhouse.com.
Jim will contact via phone.
- We are going for September.
- Tom will ask Mary how to get on a Selectmen’s agenda.
- Tom and Jim will go to Citizen’s Concern August 9th, 2004.
Chamber of Commerce.
- Dana has investigated with CoC what we could offer.
- Bonnie Cameron has an e-mail blurb. Suggest a blurb. Contact Bonnie or Dana. If we get
sufficient response, we could perform a workshop. We would have to do a blurb.
- Adam suggests trying to do a CoC breakfast event.
- Marc says NSTAR has account executive for Acton.
- We need a Resource Sheet (cheat sheet) before having CoC members contact us.
- Need to include recycling with Resource Sheet.
- Try to get Bonnie Cameron to get us for a meeting.
- Adam wants to know how many members would have to show interest before the CoC supports.
What is the mechanism?
- One track of what we could do – writing up what we will do.
- Second track – Writing up resource sheet for referrals.
- Action Item. Tom will create the Resource Sheet.
- Action Item. Steve will send recycling information for Resource Sheet.
- Action Item. Adam will volunteer to speak at breakfast meeting.
- Action Item. Dana will edit Chris & Tom’s blurb write-up.
- Action Item. We will call Chamber Members to get them show their interest.
Treasurer's report
- Chris Schafferner paid $20 family annual membership fee.
MCAN
- MCAN steering meets Third Tuesday of Alternative Months. September, November. Usually in
Cambridge.
- Annual conference. Usually in November.
- Hiring Program Manager.
- Marc Breslow requests membership list so MCAN can solicit.
- Action Item: Jim will contact the rest of membership. Jim will ask if members want to
opt-out of solicitation.
Schools
- Steve will follow-up. Adam says some ESCO specialize in schools.
- We will seek to have meeting with a School Superintendent to talk about these issues.
- Action Item Steve will work with Jim, Tom and Adam by phone to work with schools.
- Adam notes that Michael Bradley can get a clean bus by retrofitting buses.
- There is a Massachusetts anti-idling law. (Max of 5 minutes).
Future Meetings
- Schedule. First Monday of each month, except when we don’t, and then we pick
another date.
- Next meeting: Wednesday September 8th. 7:30 pm.
