Acton Earth Day Networking GatheringSaturday April 17, 2004 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pmTo celebrate Earth Day, the Acton Climate Action Team (ACAT) would like to invite members of Acton environmental organizations to an Earth Day Networking Gathering. The purpose of the gathering is to share information among Acton organizations about the results of their work over the last several years. Are you itching to know how Acton’s ground water or bird populations have changed in the last decade? Members of organizations will be asked to present informally their mission, activities, and perspective on the state of the Acton environment (in less than 5 minutes!). This is your chance to shmooze and learn. The gathering will also introduce to Acton the newest Acton Environmental Organization – the Acton Climate Action Team, the local chapter of the Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN). MCAN’s mission is to halt the threat of global climate change by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, principally carbon dioxide (CO2), in local communities and throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. One of the first goals of the Acton Climate Action Team is to conduct a greenhouse gas inventory to determine baseline levels for future reduction. The gathering will be Saturday April 17, 2004 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 435 Central Street, in West Acton. It will be potluck (appetizers and nonalcoholic drinks, not dinner). Contact Matt Liebman at 978-635-9652 (m.liebman@comcast.net) or Nan Millet at 978-0988 for more information |
